KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has appointed election commanders in all 77 districts as part of its preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives election.
The Central Election Mobilization Committee, led by party Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma, on Tuesday finalized and distributed district-wise responsibilities across all seven provinces.
Sharma was appointed as the party’s election commander following the special general convention held on January 17. On the same day, the party’s first Central Working Committee meeting in Kupandole, Lalitpur, formally entrusted him with leading the election mobilisation campaign.
According to the party, election mobilization committees have been formed in all provinces, with commanders assigned to oversee campaign coordination, organizational mobilization, and electoral strategy at the district level ahead of the March 5 parliamentary polls.
Earlier, the party had decided to form a separate committee under General Secretary Gagan Thapa to prepare the election manifesto for the House of Representatives election.
Under the new arrangement, senior party leaders and central members have been deployed across districts in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The party leadership believes the appointment of election commanders will strengthen organizational coordination and improve campaign effectiveness at the grassroots level as the election date approaches.
The Nepali Congress has said the mobilization committees will work closely with provincial and local party units to ensure a unified campaign strategy nationwide.
