Both Houses of Federal Parliament to meet today



KATHMANDU: Both houses of the Federal Parliament are meeting today to discuss ministerial responses to pending questions and consider a range of bills and reports.

The meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am at Singha Durbar. The agenda includes responses from the concerned ministers to oral and written questions that could not be presented during previous meetings.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam is scheduled to present the Eighth Annual Report of the National Natural Resources and Finance Commission, 2083 on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

Minister Gautam will also present proposals seeking to send the Bill to Establish Provisions of Certain Nepal Acts, 2083 and the National Defense University Bill, 2083 to the concerned committees for clause-wise discussion.

Similarly, Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal is scheduled to propose sending the Sewage Management Bill, 2083 to the concerned committee for clause-wise discussion.

Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security Sita Badi will propose sending the Bill to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security, 2083 BS to the concerned committee for clause-wise discussion.

Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta is scheduled to present proposals to send the following bills to the concerned committee for clause-wise discussion:

Breast Milk Substitutes (Sale and Distribution Control) (First Amendment) Bill, 2083 BS

Safe Maternity and Reproductive Health Rights (First Amendment) Bill, 2083 BS

Safety of Health Workers and Health Institutions (Second Amendment) Bill, 2083 BS

Ramraja Prasad Singh Institute of Health Sciences Bill, 2083 BS

The meeting is also scheduled to pass the Bill Relating to Remuneration, Conditions of Service and Facilities of Officials of Constitutional Bodies (First Amendment) Bill, 2083 BS.

Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal is expected to submit for the House’s approval the notices of absence received from lawmakers who have missed 10 or more meetings, in accordance with the House of Representatives Rules, 2083. He will also read out a letter received from the President.

National Assembly meeting

Similarly, the National Assembly is scheduled to meet at 1:15 pm. The agenda includes responses from the concerned minister to oral and written questions that could not be presented in the House.

The meeting will also consider a motion seeking the National Assembly’s agreement to the amendments made by the House of Representatives to the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2081, which was returned to the National Assembly with amendments.

The National Assembly is also scheduled to pass the Domestic Air Service Liability Bill, 2083.
