KATHMANDU: Families of people missing in the Rasuwa floods have begun performing last rites using symbolic bodies made of kush grass after their loved ones remained unaccounted for for several days.
With the bodies of those swept away by the floods yet to be recovered, relatives have resorted to creating symbolic kusha bodies and conducting funeral rites.
On Wednesday, families of missing victims performed the final rites of kusha body effigies at Pashupati Aryaghat.
The Pashupati Area Development Trust has arranged for the funerals to be conducted free of charge.
Around 4,000 people are reported missing in the Rasuwa flood disaster, while the bodies of only 1,114 victims have so far been recovered.
