KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Balendra Shah has described the devastating Rasuwa flood as a national tragedy that has affected the entire country.
Addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shah said the tragedy was not limited to Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
“This pain is not only for Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. This is a common thunderbolt that has hit the chest of the entire Nepal,” he said.
The devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers affected Timure, Syafrubesi and Betrawati in Rasuwa; Trishuli Bazaar and Devighat in Nuwakot; and settlements along the Trishuli River in Dhading, Chitwan and Gorkha.
Prime Minister Shah briefed the House of Representatives on the latest situation and the government’s response to the disaster.
He said the government could not afford to rest despite exhaustion and the emotional toll of the disaster.
“We do not have the opportunity to rest because our bodies are tired, nor do we have time to mourn together even when our hearts are broken,” he said.
