KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 14 people with various narcotic substances from different districts across the country during regular security operations.
According to the Central Police Newsroom, the arrests were made from Kankai and Damak in Jhapa, Tikapur in Kailali, Morang, Surkhet, and Dang.
In Jhapa, 27-year-old Ajhar Ansari of Araria district, Bihar, India, and 28-year-old Mohammad Ajwal were arrested from Kankai Municipality-2 on Saturday with 102.31 grams of a substance resembling brown heroin and 7,200 tablets of the controlled drug Tramadol.
In another operation in Damak Municipality-5, police arrested 34-year-old Buddha Rai of Sunsari, 23-year-old Romi Limbu of Morang, and 29-year-old Karan Mallik of Jhapa with 1.52 grams of a substance resembling brown heroin and 4,960 Tramadol tablets.
In Kailali, 20-year-old Kris Sharma was arrested from Tikapur Municipality-1 with 430 milligrams of a substance resembling brown heroin, while 30-year-old Tej Budha was arrested from Tikapur Municipality-9 with 1.79 grams of a similar substance.
In Morang, 27-year-old Pramila Lama was arrested with 150 Tramadol tablets and 150 Spaspan tablets. Police also arrested 27-year-old Mika Khatri and 27-year-old Bandana Makhim alias Krishti from Pathari Shanishchare Municipality-1 with 19 Tramadol tablets, 28 Dicyclomine tablets, and Rs 13,775 in cash.
In Surkhet, police arrested 24-year-old Rohit Ghising with 720 milligrams of a substance resembling brown sugar, 28-year-old Lokendra Bahadur Rawal with 500 milligrams of a substance resembling brown heroin, and 31-year-old Chitra Thapa with 210 milligrams of a substance resembling brown sugar.
In Dang, a 17-year-old boy was arrested from Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City-13 with 5.11 grams of a substance resembling brown heroin, Rs 74,000 in cash, and a digital weighing scale.
Police said further investigation into all the cases is underway.
