KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has arrested five foreign women in Kathmandu’s Thamel area on allegations of engaging in obscene activities and misbehaving with police officers.
A police team deployed from the Lainchaur Police Circle detained the women in Thamel, a major tourist hub, and made the arrests public on Thursday.
The arrested individuals include four Ugandan nationals and one Indonesian national.
According to Kathmandu District Police Office spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, the women were found allegedly obstructing local residents and foreign tourists on the streets of Thamel and negotiating for obscene activities, causing public nuisance and harassment.
Police said officers initially attempted to counsel the women, but they allegedly behaved indecently toward the responding officers during the intervention.
Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
