Five foreign women arrested over alleged obscene activities in Thamel



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has arrested five foreign women on charges of engaging in obscene activities in Kathmandu’s Thamel area.

A team from Police Circle, Lainchaur, arrested the women in Thamel and made the arrests public on Wednesday. Those arrested include four Ugandan nationals and one Indonesian national.

According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the women were allegedly obstructing the movement of domestic and foreign male tourists in Thamel, Ward No. 26 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and harassing them while soliciting them for obscene activities.

Police said the women also allegedly misbehaved with officers when the patrol team attempted to intervene and stop their activities.

Spokesperson Bhattarai said further investigation into the case is underway.
