KATHMANDU: Authorities have begun demolishing structures built on encroached land in the Pashupati area at Tilganga, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–9.
According to Metropolitan Police Chief Bishnu Joshi, the demolition drive started at 6 pm on Saturday as part of an ongoing campaign to remove illegally constructed buildings on government land.
“We have initiated the removal of houses and temporary structures built by encroaching on public land in the Pashupati area of Tilganga,” Joshi said.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan Police also stated that similar operations are currently underway in areas including Swayambhu, Balaju–Gongabu Bus Park, and Devinagar.
Earlier on Friday, authorities cleared settlements considered at risk along riverbanks in Balkhu and Kalimati.
So far, around 2,000 illegally constructed houses and structures built on government, public, and private land have been removed across the Kathmandu Valley, according to officials.
