Angdembe says Nepali Congress ready to embrace Gen-Z movement’s call for change

KATHMANDU: Bhishmaraj Angdembe, a leader of the Nepali Congress, has said the party is prepared to embrace the changes raised by the Gen-Z movement.

Speaking at the first meeting of the House of Representatives, Angdembe recalled that the Nepali Congress has historically led political transformations and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to taking the issues raised by the Gen-Z uprising to a logical conclusion.

He stressed the need for a comprehensive study of the incidents that occurred in Kathmandu and the rest of Nepal on September 8 and 9, 2025, criticizing the selective interpretation of events.

“It is necessary to study both the incidents of September 8 and 9. Some see the events of September 8, while others ignore those of September 9. This approach is entirely wrong,” he said.

Angdembe also questioned why the probe commission had focused only on the events of September 8, raising concerns over the exclusion of the September 9 incidents. He further expressed uncertainty over whether the government would officially publish the commission’s report or if the public would have to rely on secondary sources.

“Will the government itself make the report public, or will it also rely on reading it in Gorkhapatra?” he asked.

Reiterating the party’s stance, Angdembe said the Nepali Congress, as a responsible political force, remains committed both to supporting change and holding the government accountable.
