SALYAN: The Bangad–Kupinde Municipal Committee of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has clarified that the liquor cartons and rice found in a vehicle used for election campaigning do not belong to the party.
Issuing a statement, the party said claims that a vehicle carrying liquor and rice was mobilized in Sallibazar for election campaigning are misleading and baseless. It stated that rumors have been deliberately spread, suggesting that the newly formed party transported such materials as part of its campaign activities.
The party asserted that its formation was driven by a commitment to replace wrong practices in the country with better governance and accountability, not to engage in activities that violate the election codes of conduct. It further alleged that vested interests from parties long involved in governance were behind the circulation of what it described as false and misleading information.
Municipal Committee Chair Lokendra Oli reiterated that the liquor and food items found in the vehicle on Monday were not related to the party. According to him, the transportation of the materials was neither initiated nor coordinated by the party but was carried out by the vehicle owner independently, either for personal reasons or to assist a local trader.
The party has said it is ready to cooperate fully with the administration to investigate the incident and establish the facts.
