Remittance inflows exceed Rs 1.05 trillion in six months



KATHMANDU: Nepal has received more than Rs 1.05 trillion in remittance inflows during the first six months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation report released by Nepal Rastra Bank on Monday, remittance inflows increased by 39.1 percent to reach to Rs.1062.93 billion in the first half of fiscal year 2025/26.

In the same period last year, remittance inflows had grown by 4.2 percent. During mid- December to mid-January (Poush month), remittance inflows stood at Rs. 192.62 billion. In the same period of the previous year, such inflows were Rs. 122.44 billion.

During the review period, remittance inflows in US dollar terms rose by 32.3 percent to USD 7.50 billion. In the corresponding period last year, such inflows had increased by 2.7 percent.
Net secondary income (net transfers) during the review period reached Rs 1.16802 trillion, up from Rs 833.86 billion in the same period last year.

In the review period, the number of Nepalis obtaining final labor approval (institutional and individual—new) for foreign employment stood at 206,807, while 194,733 received re-approval. In the same period last year, these figures were 230,439 and 162,628 respectively.
