Haze covers Terai as westerly winds continue

KATHMANDU: With the continued partial influence of westerly winds across the country, most parts of the Terai are expected to experience fog and mist this afternoon, while some regions will see partly cloudy conditions, according to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

At present, most areas of the Terai are covered in haze. The Division said the hilly and mountainous regions will be generally cloudy this afternoon, while the remaining areas are likely to remain partly cloudy.

There is a possibility of light rain at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces, along with light snowfall in some high hilly and mountainous areas.

Tonight, the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces are expected to remain partly cloudy, while the rest of the country will see mainly clear weather. Light snowfall is likely at one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Fog may also persist in some parts of the Terai.

The Division has warned that fog in the Terai could partially disrupt daily life, health and road transportation. The public has been advised to take necessary precautions and follow daily weather updates issued by the Division.
