MYAGDI: The district authorities here have tightened rules on the collection of monetary assistance for survivors of the Bhotekoshi flash floods. Financial aid will not be allowed to be collected except through government-designated accounts.
An all-stakeholders meeting held at the District Administration Office on Monday decided that financial assistance would be collected only through government accounts. Political parties, security agencies and other representatives attending the meeting agreed to deposit relief funds into the authorised account made public by the government.
Assistant Chief District Officer Kulraj Acharya urged everyone not to deposit money intended for flood survivors into any account other than the designated government account or QR code. The meeting also decided to prepare a checklist of humanitarian assistance before receiving it.
According to Acharya, the measures were adopted to properly manage both monetary and in-kind relief and prevent their misuse. Meanwhile, two people from the district remain missing following the disaster, while three others who had been out of contact have re-established contact with their families.
The two people still unaccounted for are Bhupendra Regmi, 25, of Malika Rural Municipality-4, and Parbin Purja of Khoriya in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-2.
Those who have re-established contact are Tirtha BK of Kirchaur in Mangala Rural Municipality-5, and Tika Bahadur Purja and Pradip Purja of Khoriya in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-2. They had been working at the Trishuli A Hydropower Project in Rasuwa.
