KATHMANDU: Home Minister Sudan Gurung has said that the government has reached an eight-point agreement with the family of Ganesh Yadav, who died after being shot during a protest in Golbazaar, Siraha.
Following a meeting of the District Security Committee in Lahan, Home Minister Gurung visited Yadav’s residence in Tulsiyahi, Aurahi Rural Municipality, last night.
He said the agreement was reached after discussions with the deceased’s parents and other family members.
According to the Home Minister, the agreement includes a fair investigation into the incident, legal action against those found responsible, compensation for the victim’s family, and free education for eligible family members.
He added that the government has also agreed to provide free medical treatment to the deceased’s parents and ensure employment opportunities for eligible members of the family.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to an impartial investigation into the Golbazaar incident, Gurung said there would be no compromise in the probe and that those responsible would be brought to justice.
Ganesh Yadav died from a gunshot injury on July 14 while participating in a protest in Golbazaar against the incident in Dewanganj, Sunsari.
