KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has said that the issues seen in the sale and distribution of petroleum products have been resolved and fuel supply has returned to normal.
Clarifying reports of long queues at fuel stations in Kathmandu Valley and other major cities, NOC spokesperson Manoj Kumar Thakur said the situation was caused by low fuel stock at some pumps.
“The queues were seen because some fuel stations had low stock. Fuel has already been loaded from the Thankot depot and dispatched as per demand. Supplies have already reached some stations, while others are in the process of receiving them,” Thakur said.
He added that the problem in petroleum distribution has now been addressed and there is currently no disruption in supply.
Following a sudden rise in consumer demand at fuel stations in Kathmandu Valley and other major cities, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies had directed NOC to monitor selected fuel stations.
According to Thakur, fuel stations in Kathmandu Valley lifted 1.3 million litres of diesel and 1.3 million litres of petrol from NOC’s Thankot depot on Wednesday.
There are more than 130 fuel stations operating across the Kathmandu Valley.
