KATHMANDU: A 60-year-old woman died after coming into contact with an electrified trap allegedly set up to keep wild animals away from farmland in Gulmi district.
The deceased has been identified as Humkala Bhandari, a resident of Dhurkot Rural Municipality-5, Montari, according to the District Police Office, Gulmi.
Police said Bhandari was found injured at around 1:30 am on Wednesday and was rushed to Gulmi Hospital in Tamghas, where doctors declared her dead.
According to Superintendent of Police Bhim Kiran Bogati, the victim’s husband, Bhesh Raj Bhandari, had allegedly run an electric current from a nearby utility pole to a field about 150 meters from their home in an attempt to ward off wild boars.
Police have taken Bhesh Raj Bhandari into custody. A police team reached the scene on Wednesday morning and has launched an investigation into the incident.
