Traffic police fine 2,157 motorists in a day, collect over Rs 2.14 million in revenue



KATHMANDU: Traffic police took action against 2,157 motorists in the Kathmandu Valley in a single day for violating traffic rules, collecting Rs 2,140,546 in government revenue.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 82 drivers were penalized for driving under the influence of alcohol, 101 for operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations, 105 for running red lights, and 117 for speeding.

Similarly, action was taken against 77 motorists for failing to follow lane discipline, 61 for unnecessary horn use in prohibited areas, 22 for operating vehicles with illegally tinted windows, and 54 for driving on one-way roads.

An additional 1,538 motorists were fined for various other traffic rule violations, the office said.
