Nepal Oil Corporation cuts fuel and LPG prices

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has reduced the prices of petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

A meeting of the NOC Board of Directors on Tuesday decided to lower the price of petrol by Rs 20 per litre and diesel and kerosene by Rs 30 per litre.

The price of domestic aviation fuel has been reduced by Rs 40 per litre, while international aviation fuel for Kathmandu has been cut by US$ 265 per kilolitre. The price of a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 100.

Under the revised rates, petrol in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dipayal (Category III) now costs Rs 197 per litre, while diesel and kerosene are priced at Rs 195 per litre. Previously, petrol and diesel were priced at Rs 217 and Rs 225 per litre, respectively.

In Category I areas—Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalubang, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi and Birgunj—the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 194.50 per litre and diesel at Rs 192.50 per litre.

In Category II areas, including Surkhet and Dang, petrol will now cost Rs 196 per litre and diesel Rs 194 per litre.

The new price of domestic aviation fuel has been set at Rs 229 per litre. International aviation fuel has been fixed at US$ 1,566 per kilolitre for Kathmandu, US$ 1,100 for Pokhara and US$ 1,085 for Bhairahawa.

Following the latest revision, a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 2,060, down from Rs 2,160.

The NOC said the price adjustment was made under its automatic pricing mechanism based on fluctuations in international petroleum prices and the latest procurement rates received from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
