GANDAKI: As political parties intensify their election campaigns to woo voters for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections, the Election Office in Kaski has stepped up its internal preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls.
The Election Office has intensified its internal work following the completion of discussions and interactions with representatives of concerned agencies in the district. These consultations focused on implementing the election code of conduct and ensuring that the elections are conducted in a fair, impartial, and fear-free environment.
According to Rudra Neupane, Information Officer at the Election Office, Pokhara, the office is currently managing preparations related to the deployment of election staff at polling stations across the district’s three constituencies, as well as the distribution of election materials.
Neupane said there are 153 polling stations and 363 polling centers in the district. He added that on-site monitoring is also underway to assess the requirements and identify any potential challenges at polling stations and centers.
The office has also begun managing materials required for the elections. Neupane informed that 53 different types of materials, including ballot papers, ballot boxes, and swastika stamps, will be used during the election.
The Election Office is preparing to deploy around 3,000 personnel, including volunteers, for the elections in the district. To facilitate this, details of employees eligible for election duty have been requested from district-level offices.
“We have asked offices to submit details of employees who can be deployed for election duty by February 8,” Neupane said. “Once the details are received, the final deployment list will be prepared.”
He further stated that preparations are also underway to advance voter education programs, which will be implemented once procedural guidelines are received from the Election Commission.
A total of 49 candidates are contesting the House of Representatives election across Kaski’s three constituencies.
