FNCCI President Dhakal stresses priority on economic issues

KATHMANDU: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has said that political parties have failed to prioritize economic issues in their election manifestos.

Speaking at a program titled ‘Economic Agenda in Party Manifestos’, organized by the Nepal Economic Journalists Association in Kathmandu on Sunday, Dhakal expressed concern over the growing tendency of political parties to focus on criticizing rivals rather than presenting clear and constructive agendas.

He said that issues related to the private sector and the broader economy have not received due attention in any party manifesto so far. “Political parties should reach out to the people through their agendas, but economic issues, including those concerning the private sector, have been largely ignored,” Dhakal said.

Dhakal further expressed concern that political leadership has failed to adequately acknowledge the private sector’s contribution to the national economy. He emphasized that the state must encourage and protect the private sector, noting that without such support, the economy cannot become dynamic or sustainable.
