Travel ban on former Home Minister Lekhak lifted

KATHMANDU: The investigation commission formed to probe the incidents of September 8 and 9 has lifted the restrictions imposed on former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

The commission’s secretariat informed the Ministry of Home Affairs in writing that the restrictions on Lekhak’s foreign travel have been withdrawn, stating that the actions required under the earlier decision taken for investigation purposes have been completed.

Earlier, Lekhak had been barred from travelling abroad and was instructed not to leave the Kathmandu Valley. The commission had decided to impose the restrictions as he was under the scope of investigation.

The commission has sent formal notice of the decision to lift the restrictions to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal Police Headquarters, and Ramesh Lekhak himself.
