SANKHUWASABHA: Border security forces from Nepal and China have carried out a joint inspection of boundary pillars along the Nepal–China border in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-1, Kimathanka, located in the northern part of Sankhuwasabha district.
The joint inspection was conducted by a team comprising personnel from the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal’s Number 4 Arun Company, Chainpur, the Kimathanka Border Outpost (BOP), the Nepal Police, and the Chinese border police.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Baburam Paudel of the Armed Police Force Nepal, Number 4 Arun Company, the team inspected four boundary pillars—numbers 67, 68/2, 69/1, and 69/2—along with the overall condition of the border at the Kimathanka checkpoint.
Paudel said the joint team also assessed the status of local settlements in the border area and examined the physical condition of boundary markers.
The inspection team consisted of 11 personnel from Nepal, led by APF Border Security Post Kimathanka In-charge Nabin Khatiwada, seven Chinese police personnel under the command of DSP Dawa Chhiring from China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, and five personnel from the Nepal Police.
Bhotkhola Rural Municipality wards 1, 2, and 3 share a border with China. A total of 21 boundary pillars mark the Nepal–China international border in Sankhuwasabha district.
Authorities have reported that one boundary pillar in the Kimathanka area is currently missing. The pillar numbered 71/1 was swept away by floods in June, leading to its disappearance.
The Armed Police Force established a Border Outpost at the Kimathanka checkpoint in 2019 to strengthen border security and monitoring in the region.
