Fog engulfs Terai, rain and snow expected in high hills

LALITPUR: The partial influence of westerly winds is affecting weather across the country, bringing fog and mist to most parts of the Terai region this afternoon, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

Currently, most areas in the Terai are shrouded in fog. The Division reported that weather is partly cloudy in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, and similar conditions are expected in Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and other high hilly and mountainous regions.

There is also a chance of light rain or snowfall at one or two locations in the high hills and mountains of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Tonight, fog will persist in some Terai areas, while the high hills and mountains, including Karnali and Sudurpaschim, are expected to remain partly cloudy. Most other regions are likely to experience mainly clear weather.

The Division has warned that fog in the Terai may partially disrupt daily life, health, and road transport. The public has been advised to take necessary precautions and follow daily weather updates.
