Early morning temperatures continue to fall in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU; The minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley has declined for the second consecutive day in the preliminary measurement, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

According to the Division, Kathmandu’s temperature stood at 5.1 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am on Wednesday, slightly lower than the 5.2 degrees recorded at the same time on Tuesday. However, on Tuesday the temperature dropped further to 4.8 degrees Celsius when measured again at 8:45 am, which is considered the official minimum for the day.

The Division noted that the minimum temperature is measured twice, initially at 5:45 am and officially at 8:45 am, and the later reading is usually lower. A similar pattern was observed on Monday, when the early reading of 5.5 degrees Celsius fell to 5.2 degrees by 8:45 am. Based on this trend, the official minimum temperature for Wednesday is also expected to be lower than the initial measurement.

The Division records minimum and maximum temperatures across the country, including Kathmandu, on a daily basis. The minimum temperature is officially recorded at 8:45 am, while the maximum temperature is measured at 5:45 pm, with the lowest and highest readings representing the day’s minimum and maximum temperatures respectively.
