Tourist injured by falling rock in Manaslu awaits rescue

KATHMANDU: A tourist in the Manaslu region has been injured after being hit by a falling rock and has been waiting for rescue for the past two days.

The 44-year-old Minuindra Lamsal from Tokha-6, Kathmandu, sustained a head injury while returning from Samagaun in Chhumnubri Rural Municipality-1.

Due to adverse weather conditions, helicopters have been unable to fly, complicating rescue efforts, according to Rajkumar Shrestha, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.

“There is a serious head injury, and carrying him down is risky, so we have not been able to evacuate him yet,” he said.

Health worker Chiring Khamdo Lama, who has provided first aid, confirmed that Lamsal is still awaiting rescue. The incident occurred near a cliff in Chhumnubri-4, Bur, while returning from Samagaun on Thursday.
