Diktel mayor in hospital after health deteriorates during hunger strike



KATHMANDU: Tirtharaj Bhattarai, the mayor of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, has been admitted to Bir Hospital after developing health complications during his hunger strike.

Bhattarai, who began an indefinite hunger strike on Tuesday to press a seven-point demand, was hospitalized around 11:30 PM last night after experiencing symptoms including low blood pressure, low blood sugar, and dizziness.

Doctors at Bir Hospital confirmed that he is under observation and receiving treatment. His condition is said to be stable but requires close medical monitoring.

The mayor launched his fast-unto-death protest demanding attention to issues concerning local governance and administrative reforms. Further details on his demands have not yet been publicly disclosed.
