Oath ceremony of newly appointed Bagmati ministers postponed

HETAUDA: The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed ministers of Bagmati Province has been postponed, according to a statement from the Office of the Province Chief.

The event, which was scheduled for 1 PM on Thursday, was called off after Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota experienced a sudden health issue and was flown to Kathmandu for treatment, the office said in a press release.

This is the second time the ceremony has been delayed. Earlier, the oath-taking was initially set for 9 AM on Wednesday, but was postponed following a request from coalition partner CPN-UML, which cited ongoing internal disputes within the Nepali Congress and recent changes in its parliamentary leadership.

Despite the complications, Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama on Wednesday morning appointed Govinda Lamsal as Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Maya Shrestha as Minister for Youth and Sports, and Geeta Gurung as Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

A new date for the swearing-in ceremony has not yet been announced.
