Relentless rainfall washes out Dharan-Dhankuta road

DHARAN: Continuous rainfall since Friday night has caused a major disruption along the Dharan–Dhankuta road section after flooding in the Leuti River washed away parts of the road.

The incessant downpour led to a sudden rise in the river’s water level, which overwhelmed the road infrastructure and rendered the route impassable.

As a result, vehicular movement has come to a complete halt, stranding travelers and creating widespread inconvenience.

Though the road damage has significantly impacted transportation, authorities confirmed that there have been no reports of human casualties.

Heavy rainfall was recorded across eastern Nepal throughout Friday, leading to concerns about additional damage. Officials stated that further details regarding the extent of the destruction are still being collected.

Emergency response teams are assessing the situation, and local authorities have urged travelers to avoid the area until the road can be restored and deemed safe for use.
