KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Sushila Karki has said that the government is moving ahead to build a country in line with the aspirations of the youth through a peaceful, constitutional, and democratic process, drawing lessons from recent developments in the country.
Addressing the Tamu Lhosar festival organized by the Tamu Hyul Chhoj Dhin Gurung National Council at Tundikhel on Sunday, the Prime Minister said that despite differences of opinion, political forces have come together through dialogue and consensus to provide the country with a constructive political outlet.
She emphasized that the foundation of democracy lies in clean, fair, and joyful elections, adding that the government is committed to ensuring such an environment. Referring to the upcoming House of Representatives elections, PM Karki said the enthusiastic submission of closed lists for the proportional representation system by political parties to the Election Commission has strengthened confidence in the electoral process.
Thanking responsible political parties and the youth for their invaluable support in the run-up to the elections, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the polls would be conducted in an enthusiastic, peaceful, and successful manner with the cooperation of all stakeholders.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to holding elections in a fearless environment with guaranteed peace and security, she urged all citizens to support the government, which she said is working round the clock to ensure a democratic political resolution through the timely election of members of the House of Representatives.
