34 polling stations added in Chitwan

CHITWAN: A total of 34 polling stations have been added in Chitwan district for the House of Representatives (HoR) election to be held on March 5, 2026. The increase comes in response to the rise in the number of voters compared to the previous House of Representatives election in 2022.

According to District Election Office Chief Bhimsen Karki, the district had 460 polling stations in the last election, while 494 centers have now been established for the upcoming election on March 5, 2026. Of these, 168 are in Constituency No. 1, 152 in Constituency No. 2, and 174 in Constituency No. 3.

He clarified that no additional polling stations beyond this have been added. The 162 polling stations from the previous election have been maintained, and the additional centers have been established at the same locations as before. “Polling stations have been added, but the locations remain unchanged,” he said.

Currently, there are 56 polling stations in Constituency No. 1, 43 in Constituency No. 2, and 63 in Constituency No. 3. The district now has 442,082 registered voters for this year’s House of Representatives election, compared to 408,342 voters in 2079.

Chief Karki noted that 33,740 new voters have been registered since the last election. The voter distribution is 149,621 in Constituency No. 1, 137,152 in Constituency No. 2, and 155,309 in Constituency No. 3.
