Politics becoming attractive but full of challenges: Chandra Bhandari

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Chandra Bhandari has said that while politics becoming increasingly attractive is a positive development, the journey is not without serious challenges.

Taking to social media platform Facebook on Monday, Bhandari remarked that power and love are both powerful forces, but it is often unpredictable when and how they turn into sources of conflict.

“Politics becoming attractive is a positive aspect, but this journey is full of challenges,” he wrote. “Power and love are both powerful elements, yet one never knows when either will transform into conflict.”

Bhandari further warned that greed and attachment born out of power give rise to ego, which eventually leads to internal conflict. He stressed the need for caution and self-restraint while navigating political power.

“Greed and attachment arising from power give birth to the ‘self’, the ‘self’ gives rise to ego, and ego ultimately creates internal conflict,” he stated.

According to Bhandari, the antidote to greed and attachment that emerge under the cover of power and authority lies in honesty rooted in strong leadership willpower.

He said political leadership must be guided by integrity to prevent power from becoming a source of personal or institutional discord.
