PM Karki holds talks with families of ‘Gen-Z’ martyrs

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has met with families of those who lost their lives during the ‘Gen-Z’ protests on Sunday. The discussion, held at Singha Durbar, focused on government actions taken in line with the mandate of the protest, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Prabhu Bank CEO Ashok Sherchan arrested

Prabhu Bank CEO Ashok Sherchan has been arrested. A team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police detained him in Kathmandu. CIB spokesperson SSP Shiva Kumar Shrestha has confirmed the arrest.

Prabhu Bank Deputy CEO and Chief Credit Officer arrested

Three senior officials of Prabhu Bank, including CEO Ashok Sherchan, have been arrested in connection with violations under the Banking Offense and Punishment Act. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, with approval from the Patan High Court, took them into custody from Kathmandu on Sunday.

Kathmandu Gorkhas defeat Karnali Yaks by 6 wickets

Kathmandu Gorkhas has defeated Karnali Yaks by six wickets in a Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2 match played on Sunday. Chasing a target of 150 set by Karnali, Kathmandu reached the score in 17.6 overs, losing five wickets.

RSP and Bibeksheel Sajha announce party unification

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the Bibeksheel Sajha Party have formally announced their unification. The announcement was made during a special program held in Kathmandu, where leaders from both parties signed the unity agreement.

National unity needed to save the nation: Prachanda

Co-ordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said the country is facing a serious national crisis and must be freed from it. Addressing a unity message event held in Chipledhunga, Pokhara, he stated that Nepal’s national sovereignty and security are weakening, making it essential for all patriots, leftists, and communist forces to unite.

NEPSE falls on first trading day, turnover hits Rs 7 billion

The stock market fell by 26.51 points on the first trading day (Sunday) of the week. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the index dropped to 2,649.52 points. Despite the decline, total turnover reached Rs 7 billion, driven by the trading of 15 million shares. On the day, 45 shares gained in value, 211 shares declined, and one remained unchanged. Companies such as Sagar Distillery, Swastik Laghubitta, and Jhapa Energy recorded gains. Investors earned significant returns per share as the prices of these companies rose to the circuit limit.

CPN-UML unveils logo for 11th General Convention

The CPN-UML has unveiled the official logo for its 11th General Convention, scheduled to be held in Bhaktapur and Kathmandu from December 13. Chair KP Sharma Oli revealed the logo on Sunday during a program at the party’s central office in Chyasal. The logo features the iconic Dharahara alongside the Durbar Square area of Bhaktapur, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

DAO Kathmandu classifies 169 injured in Gen Z protests

The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has completed the classification of individuals injured during the Gen Z protests held on September 8 and 9 in the capital. According to Assistant Chief District Officer and Assistant Spokesperson Muktiram Rijal, details of 169 injured persons have been verified and categorized in two phases.

Earthquake shakes Bajhang and Bajura

An earthquake with its epicenter in Saipal, Bajhang, occurred at 12:09 p.m. today (Sunday). According to the Surkhet Seismological Center, the quake measured 4.4 on the Richter scale and was centered in the Saipal Himal region of neighboring Bajhang district. The tremor was also felt in Bajura, shaking the district and causing panic among locals. Fear has spread across Bajura and Bajhang, including other areas of the earthquake-prone Sudurpaschim Province.

Non-Resident Nepali Association unifies after four years

Four years after a major split, the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has officially reunified. The announcement was made on Sunday morning in the presence of Prime Minister Sushila Karki in Kathmandu. The presidents of the two factions, Dr. Badri KC and Mahesh Shrestha, signed a unity agreement, ending the division that had originated from a membership dispute during the 10th General Convention.

Unity of NRNA will prove to be a milestone: PM Karki

Prime Minister (PM) Sushila Karki has said that the announcement of unity within the Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) will prove to be a milestone. Addressing the NRNA International Coordination Committee’s unity declaration program at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar today, Prime Minister Karki urged Non-Resident Nepalis to understand the needs and interests of Nepalis living abroad and to contribute to Nepal’s development wherever they are by upholding the spirit of Nepali identity.

Number of parties contesting elections rises sharply to 108

The extended deadline for political parties to register for the upcoming House of Representatives election ends today. According to the election schedule approved by the Election Commission (EC), the original registration period was November 17–26. However, the EC extended it by four days following requests from parties that were still completing their registration.

Passenger bus reaches Myagdi’s Malkawang for the first time

A passenger bus has reached Malkawang in Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-5, Myagdi, for the first time, marking a major milestone for the geographically remote settlement. Locals warmly welcomed bus owner Jagat Dagami Magar (Bus No. Dha.1Kha. 308) and driver Shyam Mijar, who arrived in Malkawang on Saturday carrying passengers from the district headquarters, Benibazaar.

Gold and silver prices increase in Nepali market

Due to fluctuations in the international market, gradual price increases, and changes in demand, the price of gold in the domestic market has continued to rise. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation, the price of one tola of gold today stands at Rs 2,52,200. The price of silver has also increased, reaching Rs 3,490 per tola.

Prime Minister (PM) Sushila Karki has offered clarification following criticism of her remarks during the launch of the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence. On Sunday, through social media, Prime Minister Karki stated that she has equal respect for all religions and communities.

Pakistan supports Gyanodaya Secondary School with new computer lab

Pakistan has constructed a new computer laboratory for Gyanodaya Secondary School in Bafal, Kathmandu. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, officially inaugurated the facility on Saturday. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Hashmi said the school has achieved sustainable educational progress through the active involvement of its leadership, teachers, and the local community.

Fire incidents surge as dry season intensifies

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has reported a concerning rise in fire-related disasters across the country. Between 10 a.m. on November 27 and 10 a.m. on November 28, a total of 17 disaster incidents were recorded, causing damage worth Rs 4.918 million. Of these, fires were the most frequent, with 14 incidents reported.

Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav attended a special ceremony on Saturday evening to mark the 54th National Day of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The event was organized by the UAE Ambassador to Nepal, Abdulla Saeed Mubarak Jarwan Al Shamisi.
