Kavre court releases Khagendra Sunar on bail of Rs 50,000

KATHMANDU: The Kavrepalanchok District Court has ordered the release of Khagendra Sunar on a bail of Rs 50,000.

The order was issued on Thursday by the bench of Judge Nagendra Kumar Kalakheti.

Sunar had appeared before the district court earlier in the day over charges of contempt of court and verbal abuse against a lawyer.

Lawyer Manisha Gautam had filed a complaint at the Cyber Bureau, accusing Sunar of using derogatory language against her in a Facebook post and during a live broadcast on social media.

Sunar’s name had been proposed in the latest Cabinet expansion, but it was reportedly dropped at the last moment after the controversy over this case surfaced.
