National Assembly panel to seek government briefing on election security



KATHMANDU: The National Concern and Coordination Committee under the National Assembly has decided to seek a government briefing on security preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.

The decision was made during the committee’s meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday. Committee Chairperson Sonam Geljen Sherpa said discussions were held on the committee’s future work plan, with election-related peace and security identified as an immediate priority.

He added that the committee will also seek clarification from the government regarding the recent budget cuts in various development projects and the schedule for the upcoming National Assembly elections.

Sherpa informed that the next meeting will finalize and endorse the committee’s new work plan after prioritizing key agenda items.
