Heavy rain causes waterlogging along Ring Road in Mahalaxmisthan

KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall since early Thursday morning has caused severe waterlogging in several areas of the Kathmandu Valley, with Mahalaxmisthan in Lalitpur among the worst affected.

Sections of the Ring Road in Mahalaxmisthan have been submerged, disrupting vehicular movement and forcing motorists to navigate through flooded stretches.

Officials from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology attributed the rainfall to the combined influence of westerly winds and the ‘Montha’ cyclone formed over the Bay of Bengal. The department warned that the weather system is likely to persist until Saturday, urging residents in low-lying areas to remain cautious.
