KATHMANDU: Two-and-a-half-year-old Aryatara Shakya of Itumbahal, Kathmandu, has been anointed as the Living Goddess (Kumari).

In a ceremony held at the Kumari Ghar in Basantapur on Tuesday, Aryatara was ritually installed on the sacred Kumari throne at an auspicious hour following the traditional selection process.

On the same day, outgoing Kumari Trishna Shakya was bid farewell with musical processions and taken home with honor and reverence.
