PM Oli discusses bilateral relations with Chinese President Xi

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During the cordial and bilateral discussions, the two leaders reviewed friendly relations between the countries and explored ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors. Both sides agreed that their respective mechanisms would take proactive steps to strengthen ties and collaboration.

Prime Minister Oli also raised Nepal’s objections regarding the agreement between China and India to use the Lipulekh area as a trade route, according to Foreign Ministry Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai. He emphasized that, under the 1816 Sugauli Treaty, all territories east of the Mahakali River are sovereign Nepali land. Oli expressed confidence that China would support Nepal’s position on this matter.
