Rohit Paudel guides Nepal to victory in ODI against South Australia



KATHMANDU: Captain Rohit Paudel’s unbeaten century led Nepal to a thrilling victory in a practice One Day International (ODI) against South Australia (SA) on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 243 runs set by South Australia, Nepal achieved the goal with 5 balls to spare, losing 8 wickets in the process. Paudel remained not out at 101, guiding Nepal across the finish line in a dramatic chase while Sompal remained not out at 40.

Earlier, South Australia, who won the toss and opted to bat first, were bowled out for 242 runs in 45 overs, setting Nepal a target of 243. Harry Manenti top-scored for the Australian side with 63 runs, while Duvet Hoganbozum contributed 53 runs. Ryan King and Mackenzie Harvey chipped in with 35 and 24 runs, respectively.

For Nepal, Nandan Yadav and Sompal Kami took 3 wickets each, while Sandeep Lamichhane, Shahab Alam, and Rupesh Singh claimed 1 wicket each to restrict South Australia.

This match came after Nepal’s mixed performance in the recent T20 series.
