Continuous rainfall floods 2,000 houses in Dhangadhi, eight people rescued



KAILALI: Continuous rainfall since Sunday has flooded large parts of Dhangadhi, inundating around 2,000 houses. Authorities rescued eight people stranded by the floodwaters on Monday.

According to Shivraj Joshi, Administrative Officer and Spokesperson at the District Administration Office in Kailali, four individuals were rescued from Shrilanka in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan Ward 13, and another four from Beli village.

In Beli, the mud house of Sitaram Rana was submerged, prompting the rescue of his family of four, who have now been relocated to a relative’s home nearby. Similarly, another family of four from Shrilanka has been sheltered at a nearby public school.

Joshi said wards 3, 4, 13, 1, 7, and 11 of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City have been most affected by the rainfall, with floodwaters entering nearly 2,000 homes across the area.
