114 drug cases registered in Parsa



BIRGUNJ: Drug trafficking cases have surged in Parsa district, with 114 drug-related cases registered up to June 26 in the current fiscal year.

The rise in drug-related activities is attributed to the district’s 107-kilometer open border with neighboring India.

Parsa Police Chief Gautam Mishra stated that 151 individuals—both domestic and foreign—have been arrested in connection with drug trafficking during this period.

“Among those arrested, 98 Nepali men and six Nepali women were involved in drug trafficking,” he said. “Additionally, 45 foreign nationals and two foreign women have been apprehended for similar offenses.”

The District Police Office, Parsa, has seized 1,561 kg of marijuana and 625 kg of hashish so far this fiscal year. They have also confiscated 384 grams of brown heroin and 1.5 kilograms of opium.

Furthermore, 1,433 ampoules of Phenergan, 4,499 ampoules of Diazepam, and 4,464 ampoules of Nurofen were seized. In addition, 289,274 tablets of Tramadol were recovered.
