Eleven SSPs promoted to DIG in Nepal Police



KATHMANDU: Eleven Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of Nepal Police have been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak approved the promotions on May 27, according to a notification issued by the Police Headquarters on Friday.

Along with the promotions, new postings have also been assigned. Sudarshan Prasad Koirala, who was promoted to DIG, has been posted to the Special Bureau. He replaces DIG Siddhi Bikram Shah, who was promoted to Additional Inspector General (AIG).

Binod Ghimire has been posted to the Inspector General of Police Secretariat. Dipendra Gharti Chhetri and Deepak Regmi have been assigned to the National Police Training Academy and the Directorate of Investigation and Planning and Development, respectively.

Madhav Prasad Shrestha has been appointed as the Chief of Karnali Province, which had been without a DIG for the past three months.

Dilip Singh Deuba has been posted to the Women, Children, and Senior Citizen Services Directorate, while Deepak Kumar Basnet has been assigned to the Provincial Coordination Department.

Om Bahadur Rana has been posted to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). Jayaraj Sapkota will head the Directorate of Operations, Sanjiv Sharma Das has been posted to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, and Surendra Bahadur Gurung has been assigned to the Department of Operations.

Although Gurung’s official post is in the Cyber Bureau, he will serve in his new role as part of this reassignment.
