Teachers to continue protest in Kathmandu today

KATHMANDU: Teachers from across the country are set to continue their protest in Kathmandu today under the leadership of the Nepal Teachers Federation.

The demonstration follows another round of inconclusive talks between government representatives and Federation officials held last night.

Federation President Laxmi Kishor Subedi stated that the protest movement will continue alongside ongoing dialogue with the government. He emphasized that the Federation’s representatives remain committed to advocating for their demands.

Subedi has called on all teachers to participate in a peaceful and disciplined manner by gathering at Maitighar Mandala at 11 AM today.

While both sides described Tuesday night’s talks—from 8 PM to 10:30 PM—as positive, no agreement was reached.

Education Minister Raghuji Pant led the discussions, which were also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

Teachers have been on strike and engaged in Kathmandu-based protests since Chaitra 20, significantly affecting academic activities in community schools across the country.
