Cloudy skies with rain and storms expected today



KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently experiencing the influence of western and local winds, along with moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division reports that as of now, the weather is partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions, including Koshi Province, while the rest of the country remains mostly clear to partly cloudy.

Light rain with thunder and lightning has been reported in parts of Koshi Province.

This afternoon, hilly areas across the country are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with a chance of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at several locations. Similar weather is possible at isolated spots in the rest of the country.

Light rain and snowfall are also likely in mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. Additionally, wind and thunderstorms are expected in parts of the Terai region in Lumbini Province.

Tonight, skies will remain partly to generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, with isolated rainfall in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Light rain or snowfall may also occur at one or two locations in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
