Minister Gurung vows legal action against guilty of violent protests

KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has vowed legal action against the guilty persons in the violent protests orchestrated by the ex-king supporters at Tinkune, Kathmandu on March 28.

For this, investigation is forwarded to find facts, he added.

Receiving a memorandum submitted by the Press Chautari Nepal drawing the attention towards the incident at the Ministry today, Minister Gurung expressed commitment that the government would bring the guilty ones to book by forming a probe committee.

He argued that the former king had forgotten the commitment he made with political parties, thereby resorting to violent path in the name of agitation.

“Royalists should take responsibility of the violent demonstration. The former king will also be included in the investigation. Legal action will be taken against those involved in murder, violence and robbery incidents”, mentioned the Minister.

Stating that attack on media houses is condemnable, he shared the government would provide support to media houses after evaluating the losses caused by the demonstrators.

The Communication Minister informed that the government would ensure treatment of all those injured in the protest.
