House of Representatives meeting postponed until Monday morning

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives meeting has been postponed until Monday at 11 AM.

The meeting, originally scheduled for Sunday morning at 11 AM, faced disruptions from opposition lawmakers.

In response, ruling party lawmakers demanded the session proceed as planned.

The opposition has been obstructing parliamentary proceedings, demanding that the prime minister answer questions regarding the removal of Kulman Ghising as Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority and the appointment of Hitendra Shakya in his place.

After continued disruptions, Speaker Devraj Ghimire initially postponed the session for 15 minutes.

As no agreement was reached among the parties, the meeting was rescheduled for 4 PM. When it failed to convene again, a notice was issued postponing it until the next day.

According to General Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Padma Prasad Pandey, the session has been postponed as per Rule 6 (3) of the House of Representatives Rules, 2079.
