Nepal loses to Netherlands in triangular series



KATHMANDU: Nepal has lost to the Netherlands in the first match of the triangular T20 series.

In the match played today at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal lost to the Netherlands by 20 runs. Chasing a target of 158 runs set by the Netherlands, Nepal could score only 137 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, at the loss of 7 wickets.

Sita Rana Magar contributed the most with 28 runs for Nepal.

Similarly, Kabita Joshi scored 27 runs in 17 balls while Pooja Mahato scored 24 runs in 14 balls.

For the bowling side, Eva Lynch and Caroline de Lange of the Netherlands took two wickets each, while Iris Willing and Frederik Overdijk took one wicket each.

Earlier, the Netherlands, who lost the toss and put in to bat first, scored a total of 157 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Robin Rickey scored the highest 59 runs for the Netherlands. Similarly, Iris Willing scored 31 runs, Stree Kallis scored 29 and Heiter Sigeser added 23 runs.

For Nepal, Kabita Kunwar, Pooja Mahato, Sita Rana Magar and Ishwari Bista took one wicket each.

Nepal will now face Thailand at the same venue on Saturday.
