Three members of a family die in jeep accident



KHOTANG: Three members of a family died in a road accident at Bhandarekhola of Manebhanjyang rural municipality-7 in Okhaldhunga district last night.

The deceased have been identified as Maya Gurung, 56, of Kepilasgadhi rural municipality-3, her son Pujan Gurung, 28, and her sister Tara Gurung, 45, of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality-12, said police.

All of them are from Khotang district. They died on the spot.

They were heading to Kathmandu from Diktel for the treatment of fire victim, Maya, on Wednesday.

They might have got accident in the same night, according to the District Police Office, Khotang.

Locals informed the Traffic Police Office, Harkapur, after they saw the jeep at around 6:30 am on Thursday.

The jeep driver Anil Pandit, 22, of Inaruwa municipality in Sunsari district have been absconding, said police.

Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Khotang, Mohan Pokharel, said only four persons including driver were travelling in the jeep.

A police team was mobilized to carry out further investigation into the incident.
