Ranju and Ramesh secure popular votes in RSP’s initial proportional poll



KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), led by Rabi Lamichhane, has made public the results of its initial internal voting for proportional representation candidates on Monday.

According to the preliminary results, Ramesh Prasai topped the men’s category, while Ranju Darshana, who recently joined the party, secured the highest votes among women candidates.

Prasai emerged as the most popular candidate overall, winning 18,223 votes. Ranju, who recently entered RSP from Bibeksheel, received 13,551 votes to rank first among women.

“In the initial election for selecting proportional candidates of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, I secured third place overall under the ‘Khas Arya’ category in Bagmati Province with 13,551 votes,” Ranju said in a statement. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all party members at home and abroad who voted to make me first among women.”

In the preliminary election, Sindhupalchok’s Pramod Neupane, a former journalist who recently entered RSP politics, secured the second-highest number of votes overall with 14,167 votes, following Prasai. Ranju ranked third overall.

Meanwhile, Tika Sangraula (Jwala), who joined RSP after gaining popularity on social media, received 13,106 votes. Leema Adhikari garnered 12,760 votes, while Samiksha Baskota, who also joined RSP from Bibeksheel along with Ranju, received 12,460 votes.
