Toddler drowns in water ditch in Jhapa



JHAPA: A three-year-old boy drowned in a water-filled ditch while playing in front of his house at Jhapa Rural Municipality-2 in Jhapa district on Sunday.

The child, identified as Dibansh Kandel, was rushed to Birta City Hospital in Birtamod for treatment but died during the course of treatment, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka said the toddler was critically injured after drowning and could not be saved despite medical efforts.

Police have initiated further procedures in connection with the incident.
