HoR election: 18 centres, including one polling station, added

RAUTAHAT: A total of 18 centres, including one new polling station, have been added in Rautahat district for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026.

The District Election Office said the additional centres and stations are intended to make voting more convenient compared to the House of Representatives election held in 2022.

According to District Election Office Rautahat Chief Chhotelal Das, the district had 523 polling centres during the 2022 election. With the addition of 18 new centres this year, the total number has increased to 541.

Similarly, while there were 276 polling stations in the 2022 election, the number has now risen to 277, with a new polling station added in Garuda Municipality–6. Along with the expansion of polling infrastructure, 21,156 new voters have been added to the voter list.

Chief Das said the total number of registered voters in Rautahat has now reached 436,611, up from 415,455 voters in the 2022 House of Representatives election. He added that polling stations and centres were increased in line with the rise in voter numbers.

Rautahat district has four House of Representatives constituencies, comprising two rural municipalities and 16 municipalities with a total of 157 wards.

In the 2079 BS election, Madhav Kumar Nepal was elected from Constituency No. 1, Kiran Sah as an independent candidate from Constituency No. 2, AJP Chairperson Prabhu Sah from Constituency No. 3, and Dev Prasad Timalsina from Constituency No. 4 representing the Nepali Congress. Of the 415,455 registered voters at the time, 282,430 cast their votes.
